Galilee by the Sea
September 22nd, 2024
If you’re reading this, that means you deserve to have the gates busted wide open for you. Galilee by the Sea is a surprisingly low-key brand that I’ve had my eye on for a few years now. But only recently, I feel like it’s really blossomed into a fully fledged product offering with a mature outlook and distinct approach.
I would describe the current season (F/W 2024) as traditional menswear items (anoraks, raglan sleeves water repellent overcoats, tuxedo shirting, etc.) paired with wider silhouettes, rounded shapes, and earthy tones. When I look at a brand or a product, the first thing I think about is how would this fit in my current wardrobe. The spectacle, world-building aspects are nice - sure - but in the end I’m trying to buy this thing that I’m going to wear for as long as possible. And with Galilee by the Sea, there are plenty of things I want to own and wear.
The team behind Galilee by the Sea is a two man crew - Marq Rise and Ángeles de Hita. I don’t know much about them but I do know that their influences run deep and diverse. Peep the design page on their website. Not only do they make clothes, they also make speakers as well. Bros on their Devon Ojas flow for real. Anyways, back to the clothes - my favorites include the Terrance Anorak in a robust red wax cotton, the Olders Overcoat in a black water repellent cotton (because current Burberry is absolutely cooked), and the Evening Pant in any color. Hopefully one day I can handle these garments in person but for now I write to you with imagination.
